Meet the Team
Daniel Rensing
Founder + CEO
As a New York native, I have always been surrounded by business. My grandfather started the now Rockledge, Florida-based Renco Electronics, Inc. in 1955. Growing up with this family-owned and -operated business instilled in me the desire to follow my grandfather’s entrepreneurial lead. After moving to Rockledge, my wife Stephanie and I launched The Smart Baker. Born out of our kitchen, the company has grown from a few product lines sold out of our garage to a national television appearance on ABC's “Shark Tank.”
Stephanie Rensing
Co-Founder + THE Smart Baker
Stephanie started baking during her first year of college in New York with zero knowledge, experience, or practice, much to the chagrin of her early taste testers. Over the next 6 years she developed her skills, moved to Florida, started a popular baking blog, and earned a bachelors in Art History and a masters in Art Education, eventually becoming an art teacher. While the blog gradually took a back seat to her teaching career, her love of baking for family and friends never faded. In 2018, Stephanie left teaching to focus on raising her young daughter and working at The Smart Baker. She enjoys baking now more than ever now that she can share that love with her daughter.
Chef Jordan Weber
Contributor - @chefjordanweber
Growing up in a family where food was at the focus of family gatherings, Jordan Weber knew she wanted to be a chef since elementary school. Sharing photos of her experiences on Instagram, @chefjordanweber, she went on to pursue a culinary degree at the Culinary Institute of America in New York and is currently part of the culinary team at the Inn at Little Washington in Washington, Virginia. Cooking for the restaurant’s guests during the day, Jordan finds no better way to unwind and destress then cook and bake for herself and friends after work. She loves to make easy, approachable recipes with unexpected and fun flavor combinations. When she’s not in the kitchen (or eating, or watching food TV) Jordan enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Jennifer Jordan
Copywriter + Editor
Jennifer grew up in New York with three loves: writing, good food and cats. After studying Medieval and Renaissance Studies at NYU, she went on to a PhD at SUNY Stony Brook, where she is now writing a dissertation on women and healthcare in medieval Italy. In the little spare time she has, she writes comics (like Darwin Carmichael and An Embarrassment of Witches, both with Sophie Goldstein), edits prose for friends and family, and bakes far too many brownies. She currently lives on Long Island with her husband, Steve, and two cats, Robin and Samantha.
