Conveniently Creative: 10 Fun Uses For Parchment Paper Sheets

Blueberry scones with flowers by Brooke Lark

As avid multi-taskers, we adore kitchen gadgets that can pull double duty.

For instance, did you know that you can use your waffle iron to make epic hash browns with grated potatoes? Or, have you ever made rich, cinnamon-infused Monkey Bread in the bundt pan you normally reserve for cakes?

The same shears you use to cut twine and cheesecloth are also excellent for chopping herbs and veggies. You can grind spices in your coffee grinder, and freeze chicken stock in your ice cube trays.

OK, you get the idea! Did you know that our convenient parchment paper sheets are equally hard-working?

Today, we’re sharing 10 exciting ways you can get creative with them, ranging from the obvious to the unexpected.

  1. Line Baking Sheets and Cake Pans

Let’s start with the most easily anticipated use for your new parchment paper sheets. Of course, we designed these with the busy baker in mind!

When you’ve got your hands full and your countertops fuller, you don’t exactly have the time or capacity to lug out a box of parchment paper. It can also be cumbersome to measure it to the exact size you need and spend time cutting it yourself.

Instead, you need the ability to quickly grab a pre-cut, perfectly-sized piece of parchment, lay it on your pan, and keep going. You also need variety.

Dimensions Available

Keeping all of this in mind, we created our Perfect Parchment sheets in various different sizes, designed to fit all of the standard pans you store in your kitchen. This includes the following dimensions:

  • 9x13 (small pans)
  • 10x15 (medium pans)
  • 11x17 (large pans)
  • 6-inch round or square pans
  • 8-inch round or square pans
  • 9-inch round or square pans
  • 10-inch round pans
  • 13x18 (half sheet pan)

Depending on your needs, you can buy each size in an individual pack. Or, you can purchase multiple sizes together. For example, when you get our Perfect Parchment Essentials Bundle you’ll have access to all of the must-haves, including:

  • One 8-inch Squares Package
  • One 9-inch Rounds Package
  • One Small Sheets Package (9x13)
  • One Medium Sheets Package (10x15)
  • One Large Sheets Package (11x17)

Other packages include our Perfect Parchment Sheets Bundle, Perfect Parchment Round Bundle, and Perfect Parchment Square Bundle. You can also send in a request for custom sizes and our team will create a package of pre-cut parchment paper designed around your exact specifications.

Quick Cleanup

No matter which ones you choose, you know that each piece will be perfectly cut to size, every time. Not only does this save time during your kitchen prep work, but it also makes cleanup a breeze!

When you bake with Perfect Parchment, you greatly reduce the risk of your food sticking to your pan. Instead, it will slide out easily and be evenly cooked on all sides. If you’re tired of wasting perfectly good food to a sticky mess, this is a natural addition to your baking process.

What About Cupcakes and Muffins?

There’s no denying that individual, store-bought cupcake liners come in some adorable patterns. However, parchment paper serves the same purpose and adds an elevated look of elegance to your baked goods.

Start with a square of our pre-cut parchment, and press it around a mold that’s roughly the same size as your cupcake or muffin cups. For instance, a soup can usually works well for this purpose. Cut each one to size and be sure to allow a few inches of parchment to show above the pan.

For regularly-sized cups, five-inch squares of parchment should be just what you need. If you’re making extra-large goodies, you can increase the size of each square to six inches.

Once you pull those cupcakes out of the oven, why not showcase them in a gorgeous display? Our cupcake towers are a great way to show off your handiwork. Available in a range of sizes and designs, they’re perfect for any occasion, from a casual family get-together to a large formal wedding.

  1. Create Parchment-Wrapped Dinners

By now, you already know that you can use our pre-cut parchment sheets underneath any food you bake in the oven. However, did you realize that you can also wrap it around your food?

French chefs refer to this method as “en papillote”, but we just call it smart.

There are many delicious dinners you can wrap in parchment paper, pop in the oven, and enjoy in under an hour! Especially ideal for anyone who abhors lengthy post-meal cleanups, these meals are quick, convenient, and utterly delectable.

If you need a little inspiration, here’s a handy list of recipes to get you started.

One of the best parts about taking this route? You can prepare your parchment dinners ahead of time and prepare them when you’re ready. If you’re working with meat. it’s best to bake fish dinners within one day of assembly and chicken dinners within two.

While tin foil can be substituted for parchment paper in the recipes above, most home chefs prefer parchment because foil can sometimes react negatively with the oils in some foods. For instance, it can alter the taste of certain marinades and make them taste slightly metallic.

For best results, stick with our 10x15 or 11x17 pre-cut parchment pieces for this use. That way, you know you’ll have enough space for all the yummy ingredients you add inside!

To make the perfect bundle, start by folding the piece in half. Then, cut it into a heart shape.

Place your ingredients on one side of the heart, and leave the other half empty. Fold the empty half over the filled half, crimp and fold the edges to seal, and you’re ready to go!

Will you fill yours with buttery salmon, herb-smothered veggies, or juicy, lemony chicken? There’s no right or wrong answer, so enjoy getting creative in the kitchen! One of the best parts about this use is the aromatics that will fill the room once those warm bundles are opened.

  1. Freeze and Store Cookie Dough

Parchment paper doesn’t just hold up great against the heat of the oven. It’s also durable enough to work great in your freezer!

One of the neatest ways to use it is to wrap up your extra cookie dough in a sheet or two!

Once you take the time to get out all of your ingredients, it’s often easier to prepare a large batch of dough all at once. However, you may not have the capacity or the ability to eat all those cookies right now!

Measure out just what you need, and roll the remaining raw dough into the shape of a log. Wrap our pre-cut parchment paper around the log and twist the ends to seal them shut. Then, when inspiration strikes and you’re ready to bake cookies again, you can just head to the freezer, open the paper, and start slicing!

  1. Wrap and Share Baked Goods

Are you preparing a little box of goodies for your child’s teacher? Sending a care package to an elderly neighbor down the road?

If you want to include an assortment of baked goods, it can be difficult to know how to store them correctly. Most people choose to store them in layers inside of a plastic container. However, this can lead to smushed brownies, crumbled cookies, and icing detached from cake slices.

It’s much easier (and prettier!) to wrap your baked goods in individual squares of parchment paper. Start with one of our larger pre-cut sizes, such as the 11x17 large pan or the 13x18 half sheet pan.

Then, position one piece of your cake, cookie or other dessert onto the paper. This way, you should be able to visualize how far one piece of parchment will go. Use kitchen shears to cut each square to size, and start wrapping!

These cute packages look especially adorable when tied up with colorful ribbon or rustic twine. You can even add homemade, DIY gift tags and other touches using these easy ideas

  1. Create Fun Snack Cones

There’s just something a little more exciting about eating popcorn out of a fun and festive vessel! The same goes for french fries, chocolate candies, and just about any finger food that goes well with the big game or a great movie.

This weekend, surprise the littlest ones in your family by using our parchment sheets to create easy snack cones! Simply cut a rectangular sheet into a triangle and roll it gently into a cone shape. Then, tuck the top edge in and start filling it with your favorites.

In addition to sugary sweets or salty snacks, this is also a great spot to stash fresh, chopped veggies, such as carrot sticks. You’ll find that everyone enjoys these quick delights, from the youngest to the oldest member of the crew.

As an added benefit, it’s also easier to keep the snacks neater and better contained. When everyone has their own, individual parchment cone, there’s no oversized, over-filled communal bowl that could easily get knocked onto the carpet if your favorite player scores.

Looking for a fun and creative way to reuse those snack cones? Once they’re emptied, wipe them down and fill them with icing or melted chocolate.

Similar to a piping bag, the parchment serves as an excellent tool for adding a drizzle of something sweet on your favorite dessert. You don’t need special, fancy pastry tips to give it your own special touch!

  1. Save Your Tables and Countertops

Increasingly, modern homeowners are leaning away from traditional countertop materials, including formica, in favor of more durable, longer-lasting stone versions. For instance, your kitchen island may be made of granite, quartz, quartzite or another similar substance.

Far and away, these are more capable of withstanding heat and resisting stains than their earlier counterparts. Yet, you still want to do your part to preserve them and help them last as long as possible. Certain stains, such as red wine, can sink into a stone like granite and become difficult to effectively remove.

The next time you’re stirring, pouring or mixing up a dish, cover your work space with a few of our pre-cut Perfect Parchment sheets! This way, if you do have a spill, it will go onto the parchment and won’t absorb into the countertop.

In this way, it’s also ideal for kid’s crafting tables or other areas that tend to see their fair share of creative play. From finger paints and markers to glitter and magnetic sand, you’ll be glad you have a protective covering in place to catch the mess.

  1. Keep Your Oven Clean

There are few things worse than a decadent fruit pie bubbling over in the oven. Yes, the sticky sweet juices are delicious, but you don’t want to spend the rest of the evening scraping their charred bits off the bottom of your oven.

Not only is this task time-consuming and laborious, but it can also result in a lingering burned smell that remains long after you’ve wiped it clean.

To avoid this kitchen crisis, line a pan with Perfect Parchment and then place your pie on top of the sheet! This turns the pan into a catch-all for any bubbly spills that might occur as the pie heats up.

You can also take this same approach with pizza! Simply place a frozen pizza on top of a pre-lined pan and you can rest assured that there won’t be any oil dripping or veggies falling onto the bottom of your oven.

  1. Measure Sticky Foods

If you have to measure out a certain weight of peanut butter, how would you do it? While you could add several spoonfuls into a measuring cup and read the ounces, it’s no secret that this wouldn’t be an easy (or clean) task.

Did you get it exactly even? Should you count the peanut butter that’s still left on your spoon? You may not be able to tell if your measurement is accurate at all.

This is where a kitchen scale comes in handy. Once used as a primary kitchen gadget, it’s equally beneficial to keep one on hand today. In fact, this is another hard-working accessory that has other, unexpected uses beyond its normal function.

A digital scale offers an excellent and accurate way to measure out ingredients for baking, cooking and even canning.

However, even if you keep your scale shiny and clean, you don’t exactly want to drop a dollop of peanut butter right on top of it. The same applies to any other kind of sticky or greasy food, such as hazelnut spread or butter.

In this case, go ahead and line the top of your scale with a piece of our parchment paper. Then, add a few spoonfuls of your ingredient. You’ll still get a precise weight, but you won’t have to worry about dirtying up your scale -- or your food.

  1. Layer Frozen Foods

Cookies aren’t the only parchment-covered goodies you can stash in the freezer!

In addition, you can also use our pre-cut paper to divide frozen meats or any other food items that you want to keep separated. For instance, have you ever formed homemade chicken or beef patties by hand? If so, you know that they taste significantly better than anything you’ll find at a fast-food chain.

However, storing them can be a pain, especially when not every patty is the same. You might have cooked six pork, six chicken, and six beef ones and you need to divide everything up correctly.

If you cook for a crowd but have a small group at home, you’ll also need somewhere to keep those dinners until you’re ready to eat them. To keep them separate and sanitary, you can add them to a sealed plastic container and store them in the freezer. For easy organization, you can also separate them as needed by adding parchment paper between the layers.

Cut each piece of parchment to the size of your container to avoid waste, and use that piece as a template for all the others.

This way, when it’s time to fire up the grill, you won’t have to touch all of the patties all at once. Rather, you can just grab the layer you need, avoiding cross-contamination and other food safety risks.

Parchment paper works equally well with other food that can get sticky when it touches, such as rolled-out pie dough. Once you have your individual items prepared, add a single layer or parchment in between to avoid this issue.

  1. Protect Your Iron

Double-sided fusible tape, or fusible web, can be a time-crunched homeowner’s best friend. This is a convenient, man-made fiber that melts when heated. When you place it between two pieces of fabric, it will melt on contact and fuse those two pieces together.

This makes it an excellent resource for mending hems or fixing small holes on the go. It’s also used to make fabrics stiffer. This one addition to your laundry room can help you avoid having to lug out the sewing machine for minor clothing repairs, and looks seamless and unnoticeable when dried.

The only drawback to fusible web? If it melts onto your iron, it can create a sticky substance that’s nearly impossible to remove. To help prevent this from occurring, place a piece of parchment paper over the tape before you iron on top of it.

The heat from the iron won’t melt the parchment, but it will allow the fusible tape to melt. This way, you can complete your task, without worrying about the inevitable cleanup that will occur afterward.

Bonus Tip: Funnel Ingredients Into a Mixer

Everything is going great. You have your stand mixer plugged in, ready and waiting. You’ve added your dry ingredients into a bowl and now you’re ready to mix them all together.

Then, you dump the contents of that bowl into the mixer and suddenly, your upper cabinets are covered in a thin layer of white dust.

Has this ever happened to you?

If so, you know that transferring items from a mixing bowl or chopping board into a mixer is a careful dance. One wrong move and you not only make a mess, but you could lose your valuable ingredients!

Similar to the way you can roll our parchment paper into snack cones, you can use the same technique to create quick funnels! When you add your ingredients to the funnel a little at a time, it’s much easier to add them to your mixing bowl and direct where they should go.

The next time you’re making cookies and it’s time to add your flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl of creamed butter and sugar, you’ll be glad you stashed an extra pack of Perfect Parchment nearby.
